The Muzzle Fight by Deputy Chris Beltz
Hey Y'all
Gonna take you back a few years. This was our very first Certification in April of 2013. Myself an Miss "Kleio" show up an of course everyone wants to see the new K9. Questions followed where she from? How old? What she trained? Y'all know the normal stuff. She came from Little Rock K9 Academy. She's 1 year old. She's trained in Narcotics, Tracking and Patrol. Next question. Does she Muzzle fight?
Okie Dokie now before we all flip out and think we're fighting K9s, let me explain muzzle fighting to y'all. Muzzle fighting is when your K9 is placed in muzzle to see if they will engage a target without the use of Tooth Hugs. They'll use the muzzle to punch or swat the target.
Ok now back to the Question? Does she Muzzle fight? Me, don't know. Trainer, wanna find out? Me, sure why not! Trainer, she acclimatized to muzzle?
Me, yep she is . Trainer, muzzle her up! So muzzled up Miss "Kleio" and muzzle checked her.
Trainer says put her at heel and drop the lead, now don't get upset might have to slap her muzzle to see if she'll engage. Me, not a problem at all.
Well at this point Miss "Kleio" looks up at me then at the trainer, Trainer makes eye contact with "Hell Bitch" ,
Boom!! She launch's FULL BLOWN FUR MISSILE!! Straight nut shot on the trainer! He doubles over in agony she came straight up with muzzle and caught him right in the chin! Hooked his leg with front legs and drove him to the ground! She then proceeds to thump in the chest, ribs, arms and he's trying to holler Get her Off! Get her Off! But we were to busy laughing an watching in disbelief that he was getting his ass kicked by a 63 lb K9 thought it took me a minute to get her back on heel.
At this point trainer laying there breathless trying to get his nuggets relocated back where they belong.
To add insult to injury one of my fellow Handlers look down at him lying there and stated "Damn think she knows how to Muzzle Fight!!!
