Am I an athlete?
Here's What crossed my mind today! What’s an Athlete? That's the question for the day. I’ve asked myself that question many times and have come up with many different answers. Each answer I feel is correct. But I've been proven wrong before so for the record according to Merriam Webster an athlete "Person who is trained in or skilled in exercises, sports or games requiring physical strength, agility or stamina." I've thought to myself am I an athlete? I thought I was. In my own way. But as I said earlier, I've been proven wrong. I have been seeking a sponsor to help me with supplements in my quest of a 400 lb bench. I understand that supplements cost money and nobody gets anything for free. I understand that I'm not young I'm not handsome never claimed to be too many years outdoors. I’m just your average person with a job just like everyone else. Now back to my question, am I trained or skilled? Yes, I believe I am. I am a trained Deputy Sheriff I've spent 24 years doing this job and I spend 40 hours per year in training to maintain my Law Enforcement certification. I also spent 23 of those 24 years with a partner. A partner that every day we spend training together she's not your regular run of the mill partner I don't get rid of her at the end of my 12 hr shift. She goes home with me I'm dedicated 24,7,365 to my 4-legged partner I'm also a K9 handler. I also have a certificate that says I'm trained and skilled to be her partner. So I got 2 out of the list so far. Being in Law Enforcement could be classified as a game. They try to break the law we try to prevent them from doing so .Game or not? Running a K9 can be both a sport and an exercise. Sport is they run and my partner and I must try to find them. Is that number 3 or am I wrong again? Exercise I get plenty of that with my 4-legged partner. I think I have number 4 too. Strength is what I'm wanting more of because I'm lacking a little of my agility due to an injury. Stamina I believe I have. How many of you have been on a track behind a Malinois at a brisk jog carrying all your duty gear along with your K9s? Well, I think of myself as an athlete but in the world of sponsorships I'm not! I don't have 3000 plus followers on Twitter, Facebook or even Instagram. I'm not a Bodybuilder, Fitness Model or compete in Lifting Competitions, So according to most Supplement Companies, I'm not a professional athlete. Or am I ? What about you? Thanks for the chance to share this with you Just a different point of view on what I've ran into while seeking a sponsor. This is only my point of view and is not directed toward any particular person's or companies. More to follow if you find this interesting.
